Keeping Your Home Tint Looking Pristine
Having residential window tint installed is a great way to improve your home's comfort and efficiency. To ensure the film performs perfectly and lasts for decades, it's important to understand the curing process and how to clean it properly.
The Curing Process: Patience is Key
Unlike car windows, house windows are much larger and often use thicker films (like security or dual-reflective films). Therefore, the curing process takes longer. It is normal to see a cloudy look or small water blisters for up to 30 to 60 days. This moisture will evaporate naturally through the film. Do not touch or attempt to pop any blisters.
Safe Cleaning Methods
Do not clean the windows for at least 30 days after installation to allow the adhesive to set. When it is time to clean, use a soft, clean microfiber cloth or a soft synthetic sponge. A soft rubber squeegee is also highly recommended for a streak-free finish.
Abrasives Are the Enemy
Never use abrasive cleaning pads, bristle brushes, steel wool, or razor blades on tinted windows. These will permanently scratch and damage the film, voiding your warranty.
Chemicals to Avoid
Just like with auto tint, never use Windex or any glass cleaner containing ammonia. We recommend using a simple solution of warm water and a few drops of mild dish soap, or a dedicated, tint-safe, ammonia-free glass cleaner.
